 NEW BUSINESS:

o   Discussion regarding Nationals.  We can speak about what we have to offer and could possibly add CPOA shirts in the mix.

o   Voted and accepted phrase for CG1705 memorial brick.  Phrase in Latin along with translation will be included: Life ends, but love does not

o   CG Ball is on Sept 25th in Bellevue.

o   Military Appreciation Dinner has gone and passed.  Was $45 a plate.

o   CG DAY: Ideas were thrown out again for what to do for CG Day fundraiser and whether anyone would volunteer to sit at the booth.  Basically, no one wants to man a booth all day at CG day events.  Most people will want to be with their families.

§  Bingo, dunk tank, and 50/50 raffle were brought up.  Possible legal issues with raffles off base and WA laws.  Cannot bring own dunk tank and renting one from Lord’s Farms is expensive.

§  Still possibility to make a softball tournament.  Need to speak with CWOA and CGEA and start advertising if we want to put this on.  Can where some sort of CPO or CPOA shirt.  Can easily be ordered with decent prices on Café Press o r any other online service.

OLD BUSINESS:  ·         Seattle Chapter CPOA T-shirts: Possibly order an inventory of shirts for sale as a fundraiser.  Different ideas on how to handle.  Will look into, but could be a loss overall.  No Go.·         Meeting time change brought up again.  Nothing really passed.  Just a discussion.·        Capt. Klapproth approached MC Perron regarding the Chief’s Mess.  Need to make proposal regarding construction and expansion.  Could wait and submit same request at end of fiscal year.  Total cost is estimated at $27K.  Or…can request amount for demolition and hazmat and have CPOA and other chief’s messes chip in to fix up mess area and possibly invite CGEA to help as well since they are looking for a meeting area.  We can also do “home projects” ourselves to cut the costs.   Expansion would give the space more room and plumbing for a proper kitchen/kitchenette.  We can make this a better place and the BSU CO seems to be supportive.  MC Keyes is handling getting money set aside for the demo and hazmat removal.  The CPOA and other Chief Messes will need to be involved with self help/home repair type activities to make this place great.  Please pass info to your Chief Messes.  We could also look into doing a united fundraiser to pay for supplies.  Laminate wood floors are inexpensive and easy to install (just a thought).  ·        Breakfast Kiosk for the base.  BSU is pondering the thought of a breakfast kiosk being run by volunteer groups, such as CPOA, Chief messes, CGEA, etc and proceeds would be a fundraiser for that group.  Nothing new to report on this.·        The Seattle Chapter Standing Rules were officially voted on and passed.  Looking for 5 new Board of Directive members (BOD).

o   The Officers of the Chapter shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and a Board of Directors (BOD).

o   The Board of Directors will consist of five (5) members of the Seattle Chapter of the Chief Petty Officer’s Association on a volunteer basis.  These members must be approved by the Officers of the Chapter.  Once approved, Board of Directors effectively have tenure, serving during good behavior which terminates only upon death, resignation, or removal by Officers of the Chapter.

o   Chapter business can still be conducted if the BOD is not present

o   Members of the BOD are there to vote offline between meetings when business comes up and needs to be handled before the next meeting.  This would most likely be email discussions and vote.  So an easy job. o   4 volunteers so far, so need 1 more: MC Perron, MC Keyes, MC Podhora, and CPO Jewell.  Thanks for volunteering!
GOOD OF THE ORDER:

New Zealand military vessel moored at Pier 66 so we will not be running a BBQ for them.
